My monitor doesn't display after adding new hardware

The computer boots up no problem (no beeps or hesitation when hitting the power button), but my monitor acts as if the machine is off. It recognizes the connection because the no-connectivity graphic is not shown on the screen.

I am wondering if it's because I didn't remove the old drives from my hard drive. I am going to re-install my old hardware tonight (ugh), and remove the drivers. Hopefully that fixes this. I was just wondering here at work if anyone has any input on this. Perhaps it's a faulty video card? (EVA 8800GT).

The monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 22" Widescreen.

Thanks.

Easiest thing I can think of is perhaps you have your old graphics card you can plug in to check out..

Should narrow it down quickly

Yeah, but my old card is an AGP. I am not sure if my Mb has AGP slots; I didn't even think to check... thanks.
