My monitor does not support 100hz, yet its available in display properties?

running it at 100mhz will eventually damage your monitor.. my friend has it too but he runs 1024x768@ 100 and 1280x1024 @ 85..

Display properties gets it from video card, so ur vcard may have 120hz but you can't use it..

I really can't tell the difference on anything above 85Hz. If the monitor sepcs don't support 100Hz at any given resolution, then it could lead to premature failure if you leave it at 100Hz.

max refresh is based on resolution. the lower you go, the higher your refresh limit becomes ussually. that or you have the wrong monitor selected in windows.. or in win2k have all refresh rateslisted regardless of monitor limits. no biggie, too high refresh = no picture😛 100hz is fine if it works. manufactuers state max refresh at max res. i can do 1600x1200@85, but 1024x768@120hz

I'm currently running it at 1024X768. However in display properties, I selected "Hide Refresh Rates not Supported by Monitor"

It hides the 120hz, but 85 and 100hz is still available.

So should I still switch back to 85hz?

Yes!

Monitor aren't cheap, and I'm guessing you don't want to do anything that voids the warranty and/or reduces the life of the monitor.

<< So should I still switch back to 85hz? >>

Does 100Hz seem sharper than 85Hz? It didn't to me, and wasn't worth the expense of killing the monitor too soon.

its not gonna kill it😛 and if your monitor and video are are up to it.. it should be even more flicker free, and remain as sharp. refresh rates as set by the manufacturer, u may not have 120hz at that res😛 well its set by the monitor ini file.. which maybe right, or wrong😛 if it works it works. i have a sony g400, probably higher model then yours.
