my mom's boyfriend gave me a fluke 87 III multimeter

my mom is kind of a deadbeat... didn't really get anything from her for xmas.. she never calls... generally I suppose neither of us are very close anymore...

her boyfriend (of like 8 years?) is a pretty cool guy. He calls every now and then (once every week or two?) to make sure I'm alive and all that... anyhow.. I went to visit them for xmas today..

anyhow.. he gave me a fluke 87 III multimeter (from him... not her)... he said it was like 4 years old or so.. but not used at all. He's an electrician.. anyhow. It's pretty sweet. Probably one of the better xmas presents this year for me. I had to do a quick battery swap and it's like new again

It's the thought that counts IMHO armatron 🙂

that was nice of him. my dad bought his new gf's kids a guitar, a wireless router, and a leather laptop case. could he be more blatantly trying to buy their affections.

Why the angry face? That's like a $350 meter.

my mom not giving a sh!t prolly has a lot to do with it.. I mean they don't have much money, and I don't want a present from her/them, but card, or hell a call on xmas day would be nice (I called her at like 9pm xmas night..)

Think of the multimeter as a gift from him and her and not just him.

I called my mom on xmas day and found out her number had been disconnected... Tried her cell phone and it didn't work for some reason... I was at a ski resort the entire weekend enjoying a peaceful vacation with my g/f and when I got back on Sunday I called my mom at her work. Turns out she changed her cell phone number and never told me! She spent xmas day alone, only went to the nursing home to have dinner with her mom. Made me feel like sh*t, but f'it I've spent the last 23 years being dragged around from house to house on xmas day. I finally did something for myself and actually ENJOYED a christmas for the first time ever in my LIFE!

My dad has the same multimeter. It is very 🙂

The meter guy left it here and the guy never came back for it, so my dad kept it.

I pay for her cellphone, so it better not be disconnected.

Multimeter = every EE's and probably every geeks best friend. Measures resistance, current, voltage, checks transistors and for $350 it better s3XX0r you up good. I bought 2 of them for $6 and will probably give me the same readings up to the point I would care about 😉

BTW, EE = Electrical Engineer.

It could be worse. She could drink a twelve pack a day.

Your mom is what she is, and you probably ought to just accept it.. There's no use getting all upset because she didn't call.

What did he get you?

armatron does only your mom's BF call you to check up on you. If so it seems like he cares more about you than your own mom.
