My mom is the best in the world. Of course we argue and fuss like all parents and their children, but she's truly like my best friend. :)

Nice to see someone appreciating their parents... :D

When my girls come home from college for a visit, the go "ghetto shopping", which equates to raiding the pantry. :)

Yes, moms do rule. :)

Not only do I see her as the good, strict parent that brought me up straight since day one (almost 24 years ago), but I in the past few years I've been amazed at how great a comedian, cook and friend she's been to me. I make it a point to let her know how much I appreciate all this as often as possible---but not to the extent that I gloss over the sincerity with outright sappiness. ;)

EDIT: Oh, BTW...
<--- slightly spoiled only child, too. :)

Mine does too. Helped me pack a ton of stuff tonight :).

where are you going?
Flying out to CA on Friday to start my freshman year at Caltech :).
My best friend graduated over a year ago, and although he's plenty grateful for the education, he still bemoans the (virtually complete) loss of social life during those four years. Looking back, he said he might do things differently if he knew what he'd have to endure. I guess you already know what you're heading into.

One thing's for sure: the quality of schooling you'll get there has little-to-no comparison. Of course, you probably know this as well. If you have no problem dedicating and maintaining focus on your goals, you definitely won't regret the four years you spend in beautiful Pasadena. Good luck, and go Beavs! :p

I'm just fighting a cold and looking for work. We're doing fine otherwise. :) Just e-mail me when you get the chance. I'm sorry to hear that depression reared it's ugly head again. :(

my mom could kick your mom's ass
My mom rules the world. :p

I gave my mom $16000 to get a house... I am so cool!
Awww That's sweet, Cory. You were cool before that, though. :D

LOL, I must agree. Our son moved out this past weekend into his first apartment, and Tuesday I went home for lunch. He's there, talking to his mom, stopped by to pick up a few things he'd forgotten in the move, and there are these sacks of groceries on the table. I start perusing through them, and she told me to get out of them, they were for our son. :Q

And here I thought our food bill would be going down with 1 less mouth to feed. :Q

:D

I will never buy my grown-up kids groceries. But I'm the dad, and that's my job.

Me: "Time for bed"
My 5 year old: "Dad, you're mean!"
Me: " The Meanest Dad Evar!"

lol, sounds like me, I remember when my Nicole got her first place, I used to order double groceries delivered from Peapod, I couldn't give her money (it was a principal thing) but I could make sure she ate decently :)
