she had her first 11 years ago. On friday she went in to have an angioplasti and the doc stopped it because he found both bypasses blocked. So today she had a double bypass done. it was a very high risk procedure because of her age (76) and the weakness of her heart from her first heart attack.

so today she went in at 10 and my wife and i was a nervous wreck. we are in colorado and she is in Houston. There was a very real possibilty that things could have gone wrong and because of this i stayed home. every time the phone rang I would start shaking thinking that this was it.

At 8pm the surgeon called and told me the surgery went well and she is doing suprisingly well considering the circumstances.

So i am very very relieved, now its the hard part for her to get her body healed. As soon as she gets released my sister will drive her home and we will go down and spend a few weeks with her helping her recover.

Not only was a stressful weekend thinking about this, but we had to find a lawyer asap to do a power of attorney, medical power of attorney and a DNR. my mom signed them all with me as the one with the power which created a lot of hurt feelings with my sister.

Glad to hear she came through the surgery alright. I hope she recovers quickly and gets back to doing the things she enjoys as soon as possible.

Wow, that is scary.

It sucks to watch your parents get old. My mom recently had a hip replacement surgery and my dad has had to start on insulin for his diabetes.

Even my freaking dog is getting old and I have to give her arthritis medicine.

Here's hoping your mom recovers quickly.
