My mom goes to college

A few years ago, my mom decided she was sick of being a homemaker and started going to community college to work toward a nursing degree.

Anyone else have parents that decided to go (back) to college?

I did. As soon as she got her degree, she started divorce proceedings.

She should have stayed in the kitchen

My mom is getting her masters in both nursing and healthcare administration at phoenix right now.

My mom dropped out of college when she was 20 (I'm getting married, woo-hoo!)

She had a pretty good run as a Beauty Salon owner. Quit that to take care of my Dad.
She's 46 now and is in a distance-education program (Sociology) - will graduate with me in 2007!

Nope, both my parents are quite well educated and have good paying jobs...

Mom: Bachelors degree and MBA
Dad: Bachelors degree, masters , and PhD

Now only if they would pay for my education...

Updated for me:

Thankfully they pay for my education...

Every time I turn around it seems as if my father has enrolled in some sort of post-graduate program. He doesn't need to do it, I'm pretty sure he does it to keep his mind sharp with his growing age.

my mom just got a bachelor's degree this summer...20 something years after she got her accounting degree in jr. college

Good for her. My parents both have BAs (Dad - EE, Mom- Spanish and Accounting). The main thing they do is try and work less and vacation more.

Is your mom doing your homework too? 🙂

A friend of my Mother-In-Law is going for her PhD. We have no clue why, she's in her mid 60s, is well off and doesn't need to work or have any desire to work as far as we know.

Boredom perhaps? 😕

I can think of about 10 billion things id rather do as a hobby at that age (or any age for that matter) than get a Ph.D

with the last of the kids finally out of the house and at college (me being the last one) my mom decided to go back and get her RN (she is LPN now) ...its sad how crappy she is at math...i'm glad for her though...she has something to do now rather than take care of brats 😀 lol
