I have an Asus A7A266 mobo. When I hook up my Mitsumi DVD-ROM drive to it, it doesn't recognize it!! I've tried to set it as a secondary slave and master, but neither of them work! Hell, I even tried setting it as a primary slave! Of course that didn't work, but i'm really running out of ideas. All my other drives work fine, except this one. I know my DVD drive isn't broken since it works in my other computers.

i'm pretty sure that the primary channel is reserved mostly for hard drives, right? anyway, it'd be a lot more helpful if you tried to answer my question instead of giving me more.

lol, sorry, I was wondering if your primary channel was broken or something. FYI, any IDE device can work on any channel.

Well alright...are you trying to have it auto-detect the drive at boot, or have you set it manually?

well, they both don't seem to work right. when i do auto detect, it doesn't fine anything. when i set it manually, it says that the drive isn't working correctly. so there you have it
