hi

just checked the task manager,
MsMpEng.exe is using 67,856KB
msseces.exe is using 7,736KB

are they normal?

Do you guys have any good idea how to seek for software that is slowing down my system?
Before i format (xp pro) things are quite smooth, but now seems choppy
when i open a windows or firefox, i see the frame(boarder) first, then 2 seconds later everything then to be loaded.

And yes those ram usages look OK to me. Mine use about the same on Win 7.

Also if it is Windows Defender running see here...

Q: Does installing Microsoft Security Essentials disable Windows Defender
A: Microsoft Security Essentials should disable Windows Defender on Vista and Windows 7 and uninstall it from XP. In some cases, this does not happen automatically.

After some google...
MsMpEng.exe is the back-end of MSE(Microsoft Security Essentials). It is important to remember that this process is actually used by both Windows Defender and MSE. When you install MSE, then Windows Defender is automatically turned off and MSE uses this process.

If you uninstall MSE, then Windows Defender will be enabled and will start using this process. So in a way both Windows Defender and MSE use this single process.
