uh oh, u might start a flame war here.

I'll just put it out now by saying that subtitles are better. There are a few exceptions in which dubs are nicer, but in general always listen to the japanese voice track with the english subtitles.

subtitles! In general the japanese voice actors give better emotion for the character they are portraying. IMHO dub actors don't get the time required to fully get into the character to make it work. And sometimes it gets worse.

Take Cowboy Bebop for exmaple, in the Japanese voice his voice has a certain style. Not James Bond like..not Rat pack like...but exudes a kind of "cool" to it. The english dub he sounds whiny, not cool.

Cowboy Bebop can be purchased where DVDs are generally sold. Best Buy, Amazon.com, etc -- its out there, in a lot of places. There is a DVD box set, with all of them in, you can easily pick that up.

I disagree. I saw the whole series with subs, then went back again and saw it in dubs.. I could only watch the first episode + a random episode in the middle of the series (wanted to see if the acting improved). Man I couldn't stand it. I guess the acting is above par for dubs (but not approaching normal acting). But I they just didn't sound like how the Japanese actors made them sound. It made their personalities seem different

just for those that don't know. robotech = macross, southern cross, mospeada all edited and dubbed to hell wrapped together as one series. the plot was dramatically changed to make 3 series and universes into one.

I dunno. I meant the question on subs or dubs towards cowboy bebop only. I'm usually partial to subs on any anime, but when I was watching the dubs on cartoon network and the subs that I <cough>aquired<cough> they both seem to be pretty good.
