first off, this a brand new build so I never had a chance to try this burner on another system.

it reads data totally fine from CDs and DVDs - i've been able to re-install XP, Oblivion etc....

I've installed Nero as my burning software.

whenever i go to burn anything at all, the entire system crashes and complete turns OFF my pc - not just to desktop, but actually powers off my pc.

this is a lightscribe capable burner, but I'm using non-lightscribe media because i'm burning utilities for another PC.

any ideas?

i'm running:
MSI K9N platinum mobo
AMD 3800+ dual core
2gb Corsair - I ran memtest for 4 hours and no errors found.
3 SATA hdds

thanks alot,
robert.

Do you have another DVDR that can be substituted?
Sounds like a definite conflict in your hardware/driver installation AFAIK.
Maybe you should install all software for that burner.

The craptastic scratcher of a Lite-On SHW1635 also BSOD'd my system. Turned out the drive was bad, coupled with a bad mobo. So if you could, stick the drive in another system to isolate it as a problem. If it is ok there, then it's probably your system. Definately easier to isolate faulty hardware as it wastes a lot of time (I'd know:() thinking it is software related.
