It hurts to even open my mouth, and I'm in agony here trying to eat anything. I have this redness that just appeared around 3/4 of my lips and it looks and feels like a burn but I have no clue what could have burned me. It has been there for about 2 - 3 days now, and if it doesn't go away soon I think I may end up going to see a doctor. This sh!t is sooooo fvcking painful! :(

The only thing I can possibly think of that could have caused it is the dentist. I went to have a filling put in on Wednesday and the rash or whatever the fvck it is is on the side that they were working on. My mouth was being stretched a good bit but I've sat through much more than that while getting braces so I don't think it is stretched. She did use that little radiation gun to dry the filling, the one that has that blue light. Could this have burned me somehow?

Its winter, air is dry, just get some medicated lip balm and you should be good to go in a day or so.

I did have a cold sore also about 2 days ago, but I have never had one do this. Do cold sores spread and cover the areas above your lips? And that is the same side that the sore was on too, but I've never experienced this before. It is like the skin around my lips were burned.

Possibly you're allergic to whatever filling material they used? You're not "sick" are you? LIke dizzy, nauseous, etc?

No not sick, and I have had a filling done before without any sort of reaction. He could have very well used something else though. I called their office and got a machine that is supposed to page him, so hopefully I'll hear from him tonight and find out if it could be a burn from that gun or any sort of allergic reaction. The thing is it is around the skin on the outside of my lips, not my lips themselves and not on the inside. If I was burned I would figure that my lips would have been burned as well, but it is only the surrounding skin.

That had crossed my mind because it does remind me of a sunburn, but nothing else on me is burned or tanned or anything and I haven't spent enough time outdoors to get one anyways.

The UV gun could have toasted your lips. It's a stretch, but it could happen. I think you'd have noticed the dentist working them over. It'd take awhile to get them nice and toasty.

YOU HAVE HERPES. GO STRAIGHT TO JAIL, DO NOT PASS GO!

...I just noticed caps lock was on once I wrote this..but I'm too lazy to rewrite it again without the caps... even though in the time it took to write this note I could have rewritten that first line and had time to spare to...look at my view!
