I came home to a downed router. I didn't know what to do. The red Diag light was lit and it wouldnt turn off. How I fixed it was unplugging the router, and pressing the reset switch.

Now, can anyone tell me why my router went down? It's connecting two computers together, and that's about it.

Also, is there anything I can do otherwise next time the router goes down?

i love my linksys too. 3 of my friends also have the befsr41, and no one has had any problems. maybe it is the user not the device?

Hmm I have never had any problems with the many linksys products I have. Perhaps it is a user error.

There are a lot of reasons why a router might go down. One of the simplest is that it may have been subjected to a power spike or a brownout. Is your router sitting on an UPS? Does it at least have surge protection? Anyway, I think it's a little soon for everyone to be telling you how bad your router is and that it's time to replace it. Has the problem occurred again? Some Linksys routers have had a habit of locking up and requiring a reset on occasion. All of them that I've seen were fixed by firmware upgrades. If you haven't upgraded the firmware on that router you might give that a shot, and then sit back and see what happens.
