I just left my calc II class after handing in a BLANK test to my instructor. This would be my test #4 (on chapter 9 stuff, parametrics, polar coordinates, etc...). I got a 46% on test #3. This officially brings my average to an F. This is officially my second class with an F this semester. Earlier in the semester, I stopped going to my computer science class. I was going to go and officially drop it, but my lazy ass never got around to it. So that would be my other F. I don't know if I should register for summer classes and lose my job or if I should just focus on finding a better job without a higher education. This is my second semester failing 2 classes, by the way.

sounds like you aren't willing to put in the effort... I know something that will make you crave a higher education so you can get a decent job..try data entry for a few months, that will get you set straight.

you need to get more serious about school amigo.
If you can't, then you need to rethink your goals

Ditto. If you have no drive to study and to succeed in college then sorry you are probably not going to. If you talk to your teachers and are serious they may go a bit easy on you or be able to help you.

Its up to you to put in the time to get the grades....

Good luck in what you choose my friend.

yikes! sounds like you need some time away to rethink what you want out of life. Get goods grades so you can get out of school as soon as possible and get a decent job or keep the job and ask for a bonus or something.

Don't overload yourself to the point of dropping out.

Good luck d00d

I agree with much of what the others have said. You said so yourself that you're "lazy." Sounds like you need to get in gear.

My guess is that you are not as good as most people at being dead, and long burried emotional issues that most people successfully avoid ever knowing they have, are in your case bubbling to the surface. Maybe you have begun to see that everything is totally meaningless and that the world is upside down. If so, it would help if you could get yourself into a position where you can explore and face the domons that haunt our inner world. It's an unfortunate fact that the door to paradice is at the end of a journey through hell. One thing that may be of some use is the certain knowledge that at core, you are God's image and only feel, incorrectly, that you are a piece of crap. The hidden belief in the lie of our worthlessness is our one and only real enemy. Have yourself a nice funeral and find yourself reborn. The only thing that dies are illusions.

Is that all?

I've failed 4 classes in a semester before.

I never did finish my degree, spent 3 years trying to get a 2-year, only have 4 classes to go. Don't have time for school now because I'm working full time and a half. Have a mortgage to pay and wife to keep happy.

I really want my degree. What what I thinking by not studying. :(

if you aren't making the effort, i suggest you first talk to your professors about this and see if you can take a semester off or something because your going to school is a waste of money at this point.

the problem with working while you're in school is that you start feeling that work is easier, and in many ways it is. but without the education, you will not get anywhere. there is a term called "glass ceiling" and that's basically what you're going to hit.

i don't expect you to see this as you sound like a young kid (i'm not that old myself really) and i can understand how you feel. i worked through my entire college career to pay it off, and many times, i felt like saying f*ck it especially when you have projects, homeworks, labs, exams, finals (in school) and projects, politics, general crap (in work).

your degree with espcially be useful in times like now. right now, there are so many people looking for work, the employer can pick from whomever they want. for example, the bare minimum for a job hire where i work is a BS, MCSE, CCNA, CCNP.

put up with school and you will reap the rewards. good luck dude.

Sounds like your life is just going to change. Maybe spending some time at manual labor will turn your head around.

Or at least not sat there like a wang and then handed in a blank test. If you didn't know it, then just get up and walk out.

Let me put it to you like this.

A buddy of mine was terrible at school work. _I_ was terrible at school work. But _I_ finished with a bachelors degree after 4.5 years, though I worked my ass off. He never got his degree but may even be better than me at what we do for a living.

Guess who has the full-time job making more money than probably 80% of people my age... while he's doing freelance and wishing to God he had a full-time job every week or two.

DO NOT GIVE UP ON YOUR DEGREE. You need it in this life if you plan on going anywhere with a career. Or it's would-you-like-fries-with-that for years to come. No joke. Gotta earn things, guy. It's NOT too late to start over. It's worth it to start over.

timOthy has it right. You'd be wise to take his counsel.

I had a very bad semester once, also. I was put on academic probation, one more and I'd get the boot. I too had temptations; maybe working full time now was better than going to school and waiting for the payoff in the long haul. But I decided if I was going down, it was going to be on my own terms. I sucked it up and made the Dean's list the following semester. If I've done one thing right in my whole life, finishing my degree was it. I'm 36 years old now, and Manager of Manufacturing Engineering for an automotive supplier. Every once in awhile, I imagine myself still working in the shop, or in the warehouse loading trucks at my age. It terrifies me.

Get the hell off of the internet, kid, and get your ass in the books. Imagine yourself at 40 working where you do now. That oughta cure ya.

Good luck.
