I hate working in small cases...

But buddies & i do gaming nights usually every weekend, sometimes it's Wii/XBox360/PS3, other times it's PC gaming.

They just built some little MiniATX AMD systems based around this J&W in tiny cases for moving around for our little LAN parties, since moving around a massive tower really isn't fun or very doable, so i had to do the same...

Okay, not quite the same, as i wanted to make a more powerful system around some existing parts i had, & yeah, it's not nearly as tiny.

The AMD duallies they put into their mini PCs really can't handle 1080p .mkv content, & as handling that + multi-core aware games like UT3 were what i had in mind, i went with my old CPU/GPU i wasn't using, as well as other parts i had.

Specs:
Lian Li PC-V350 (black, of course)
Asus P5E-VM HDMI
Q6700 (had already)
Noctua NH-C12P
2x2 GB Mushkin Redline DDR2-1000
8800 GTX (had already)
Corsair HX520 (had already)
LG GH22NS30 DVDRW
Maxtor 500 GB (had already)
Vista Ultimate x64 (had already)

This little beast in a box will be handling LAN gaming duties, as well as HTPC use, as it's hooked up to my projector in the living room. :)

Yes, i took some pics.

Cooler is massive for such a small case :D
Horrible cooler art by BFG
Brushed aluminum baby...nicer & way lighter than all my other cases :)
It's hooked up for projector action (not final placement :p)

Props for building something different than the mainstream mATX system. It's a very nice and powerful rig. How are your temps? Looks like you have just an 80mm fan and the PS for air movement. Oh, and the 8800GTX too...temps should be good, I guess?

Nice looking case. The DVD placement isn't for everyone, but I guess depending on how often you swap out discs it might not be an issue.

Nice looking rig!

Temps are kinda warm (haven't tested much, but around 65C small FFT load) so i won't be able to OC much (chip did 3536 MHz 1.4v 24/7 back when it was in my main rig).

I'll likely try keeping it around the stock to 3 GHz range undervolted once i get some time to mess with it.

Not too impressed with the BIOS as i'm used to better BIOSes, & thus far it seems i cannot OC my RAM @ all, which is almost for sure not due to the RAM, but the board.

But when i was looking at boards, all the mATX P5Qs (what i wanted) were either missing stuff i wanted (like coax/spdif), or were getting horrible reviews for OCing, etc, hence why i went with the older board i got.

Fans are all the stock Lian Li ones.

There are two 120mm in the front; & one 80mm & then the PSU exhausting.

Things certainly get warm as the CPU/GPU are far from being cool efficient components, but it would have cost me a lot more to have to sell those to get other parts, something i didn't want to do.

And in all honestly, even at everything stock, it's more than enough power for 1080p, & all the games i'm going to throw at it for now at least, so i don't really even need to OC (just a habit i have a hard time wanting to break :p)

Unless you changed the CPU fan rotation (not sure you'd want to), the Noctua attempts to blow air into the heatsink, whereas the PSU is attempting to exhaust it. This may account for the abnormally warm temperature. Unfortunately I wouldn't know what to say as to fixing it, but when opposite rotations occur sometimes it nixes everything out.

I was seriously considering this case, with This Board. But since I have the same cooler and PSU I was thinking I may have to reverse fan flow of the PSU or block it off completely (and add say an 80mm exhaust on the back of the PSU).

Yeah i was debating about doing the fan drawing away from the cooler toward the PSU, but then there'd be no airflow around the heatpipes & CPU area...i dunno which would end up being better...neither is really ideal unfortunately.

I may later try with the fans working together, though i suspect there'll be little difference.

I don't know, it seems as if you did change the cooler to blow away from the heatsink you would still be okay because of the front 120mm's blowing to it and through it. But I've never actually heard of anyone doing that, so there's no telling what might happen.
