cloth and glass cleaner?

I use the cloth that was included with my anti-reflective prescription glasses and the solution that came with it... but I don't think you need to worry *that* much about scratches.

dear lord you haven't cleaned your monitor in 3 months? I get annoyed at every fingerprint so i end up cleaning it weekly.

People tend to touch lcds less, so they get less fingerprints, and less greasy smears... But I only get to use one at work, and it gets cleaned long after I go home, so i've got no idea what to use.

bunch of stuff from different manufacturers. Be careful what you put on the screen!

Release it first the mains cable of the current supply, by pulling the plug from the plug socket.
if the monitor is strongly dirty, cleans you it with a dampened cloth. Use only warm water, and you rub the monitor thereafter drying. By solvents and/or strong solvents can the housing surface be damaged. Clean the picture tube only with a soft cloth, since otherwise the LCD coating can take damage.
Cleaning it the monitor when easy contamination only with a dry, soft and antistatic cloth.
the frontlateral LCD Bildschirmflaeche is very sensitive. Avoid therefore any pressure on the screen surface (finger, pin etc.), and proceed you particularly when transporting the equipment carefully, so that the screen is not exposed to stronger impacts and no scratches develop (you always use the original packaging)."

Fujitsu Siemens
"Cleaning
Pull the power supply plug, before you clean the screen.
The housing interior may be cleaned only by a service technician.
Do not use for the cleaning scheuerpulver and no plastic solving cleaning agents.
Do not let a liquid the inside the equipment penetrate.
Make sure that the louvers at the screen remain free.
Clean pressure and scratch-sensitive display surface of the LCD screen only with a soft, easily dampened cloth.
For the cleaning of the housing surface of the screen a dry cloth is sufficient. In the case of strong contamination a damp cloth can be used, that into water with mild detergent was dipped and well wrung out."

HEWLETT PACKARD
"Your monitor has an anti-glare, anti-static screen coating. To prevent damage to the monitor screen's coating, use a regular household glass cleaner when cleaning the screen. To clean the screen:
1 Switch the monitor off and remove the power plug (pull the plug, not the cable).
2 Soak a soft gauze cloth with isopropyl alcohol or ethyl alcohol and gently wipe the surface of the monitor. Avoid dusting it or wiping it with a cloth dampened with water.
3 Dry with a clean, soft cotton cloth.
CAUTION Do not use cleaning solutions containing fluoride, acids, or alkalis. Do not use ketone substances such as acetone or solvents such as xylene or toluene to clean the monitor. Do not use benzene, thinner, ammonia, or any volatile substance to clean the monitor's screen or cabinet. These chemicals may damage the monitor. Never use water to clean an LCD screen."

IBM
"The users guides for IBM Flatscreen TFT panels suggest the following: Caring for your IBM Monitor:
Be sure to turn off the power before you perform any maintenance on the monitor. Clean your monitor as follows:
Gently wipe the covers and the screen with a soft cloth. Remove finger marks and grease with a damp cloth and mild detergent; do not use solvents or abrasives. Never apply detergent or other liquid directly to the screen. Dampen the cloth and then wipe. Never use flammable cleaning material to clean your IBM monitor or any other electrical apparatus."

LG Studioworks
"We recommend the use of the cleaning spray" Tele wash-out ". Also the cleaning cloths available in specialist shops can be used."

Mitsubishi/NEC
"General do not deviate the cleaning methods from those with conventional tube monitors usual. NEC/Mitsubishi recommends Clean "in the special cleaning agent" screen - from the company Rogge., which particularly for for LCD monitors one developed and one tested."

Panasonic
"Care of the monitor
Clean the monitor with a soft, dry rag. If it is very dirty, wipe it off with a rag, which you dipped before into a solution from neutral cleaning agent with water and wrung out well, and dry you him then with a dry cloth. Use of a chemically treated rag or a gloss-producing cleaning agent can damage the surface or cause a replacement of the color. Rub not with a hard article against the monitor and suspend you him no impacts."

Philips
"The surface the LCD of monitors is covered with a protective layer. The layer is resistant up to a certain degree of hardness (for instance up to the hardness of a 2H-Bleistifts). Generally is recommended to expose the picture screen surface to no excessive vibrations or scratches. An optional protective cover with higher scratching resistance is available for each Philips's LCD monitor. For the normal cleaning we recommend the monitor with a clean to wipe soft cloth off. For more thorough cleaning we recommend to use products with isopropyl alcohol. No products should be used those ethyl alcohol, be contained ethanol, acetone or hexane."

Paper Towel would scratch the surface wouldn't it ?? especially if it had a protective coating on it..

I say just use cotton towel with the cleaning solution... or get one of those moist wipes~
