Hello all. Here are my computer specs, below is the problem i'm having.

CPU: AMD Athlon x2 3800+
MB: ASUS A8V-Deluxe
RAM: 2gigs 3-3-3-8 Kingston
VID: ATI x1950 Pro 256mb
PSU: Antec TruePower TRIO - Max output on +12v rail is 18amps. There are 3 +12v rails.
SC: Creative Audity 2
OS: Windows XP Home - Fully patched
Net: Some Netgear Card

Problem: (This has been just a recent problem, last week or so. Before that everything was great). I get locked up randomly. It doesnt matter what i'm doing. I could be saving a file in MS Word, I could be watching a video on YouTube, I could be watching a video from my hard drive. It just does not matter. I could be playing a game like Counter-Strike, or a game like Solitare. My computer Freezes and thats it.

When I'm using my sound card (I use a USB headset to play games, listen to music, etc) and the computer locks up there is a SERIOUSLY LOUD ANNOYING LONG BEEP that emits from my speakers. This does not happen when I'm using my USB headset, it just locks up.

What are some symptoms of this?

I used memtest+ 1.70 to test my memory. I did 8 passes with no errors. Its not the memory, period.

How can I stress test my video card for problems?
How can I stress test my sound card for problems?
How can I stress test my Power Supply for problems?
...even better is there an application out there that will test all my components and tell me anything wrong with any of them?

Please help me. This problem is VERY annoying.

A "test all" button would be cool.. but, I have never seen one.

There are two ways to trouble-shoot your hardware;

Remove/replace your components one at a time until you find the culprit OR

Remove everything and start adding back until you find the problem....

Personally, I would start by reintalling & updating my sound drivers OR do a system restore back to the point where it was working. You need to eliminate the possibility of a software conflict.

Edit: If the above doesn't help then I would take out the sound card

Video Card - PCmark
Sound card - Unplug it, use on board.. see if your problem continues
Power Supply - PSU tester.. Take it to a local store.. It takes 10 seconds.. they prolly wouldn't charge you.
