My Latest Messages

Lifer
I know we went over this on the test forum but I'm still bringing it up here.

"My Latest Messages" lists several threads that I have not posted to in at least 6 months or more.

Just for example:

What are you listening to *right now*?! Off Topic 2624 04/19/2004 03:40 AM
**Official** ATOT Goodnight Thread **Confirmed** Off Topic 1391 04/18/2004 11:13 PM
BIG LIST - Gamecube Deals - 2000 posts and growing... Hot Deals 2081 04/16/2004 03:17 AM

These are not MY Latest Messages.

I realize this is probably staying the way it is but I wanted to point it out.

This bothers me too. I used to always check my today screen to check on my recent posts, but now they go in the order of last replied to by anyone, not just me.

Depending on how the tables are defined for message board posts, this probably only needs a slight tweak? Select all post titles and ID #s according to where member yllus has made a post/reply, sort by date of that post of his in descending order. As opposed to sort by overall last post date for the thread.

Good stuff overall Zuni, sure don't envy the job of boring little fixes that you're knee-deep in now though. 🙂

Ummm

Add me to this list the last ones are all F-ed up

And I still cannot subscribe to a thread and still have 2 mystery PMs 🙁

I totally agree! Now, people will bump threads from a year ago, just so they'll be on people's "my latest posts" lists. If they are "my latest posts" then why in the world are threads I haven't posted to in months on the list? It doesn't even make sense. Why not just call it "Latest Posts In Threads I Stopped Caring About Weeks Ago"?

: ) Amanda

One question relating to the My Latest Posts. How come there are only 5 threads there now? In the old software I had a lot more (don't remember the number).

I think it used to be 20 but I'm only seeing 19 right now. 😕

Then why do I only see 5? I really liked having a lot more. I tried replying to other threads, and it just replaces the bottom one with a new one. Me no likey.

I have 18.

Because, the way this works i have to pull more threads than 20 to try and guess how many posts you did. This is the drawback to sorting threads this way, it was no different in PRO.

Personally, I liked it the other way, but as long as it's decided one way or another, I'm happy.🙂

I agree! The new way was much more efficient in keeping track of whether or not people posted in your threads. If nobody responded in a thread after you did, the thread would slowly drop off your "recent response" threads. If the thread stays active it will stay toward the top of the list so you can check on it the next time you log in.

Now, if you post a question to a thread and nobody responds for 3 or 4 days, it'll eventually get pushed off the list and you would never know somebody answered your question. I am surprised that you guys liked it better the old way.😕 There was an interesting thread about a new DLP TV from Samsung that was getting updated with new posts every few days. Using the old sorting I would never have know that people were still updating this thread, unless I specifically searched for that thread or added it to my favorites.

Maybe another setting that's user definable? Please?:beer:

That's the purpose of having thread subscriptions! 😛

I agree that having user definable would be best but who knows how doable that is.
