Good luck man. Hope it works for ya... I lost a ton doing a keto diet, and I wish you the same.
Only problem is if you are savoring your "last meal" you are already having the wrong mindset on it. The whole idea is to change your eating habits for life... If you are looking back on that kind of food as being "special" or a "treat" or whatever you are already doomed. Doing that will pretty much just make you crave it and whatnot.
Here are my tips:
1. Invest in a bada$$ grill, as you will be using it practically daily. It takes a idiot or a woman to screw up grilled meats. (sorry, ladies
)
2. Learn to LOOOOOOVEE boneless skinless chicken breasts. They are practically a staple food.
3. Get over any "taste disputes" you have with veggies such as asparagus, brussels sprouts, greens, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. Once you learn to actuallly like these, that changes everything. If you can't stand them, slowly work them into your diet (by cheese coating em, etc.) until you start liking them on their own.
4. Keep cans of tuna/chicken around for emergencies and backup plans. Can't find anything in the fridge? Too lazy to cook? Grab a can of tuna or chicken.
5. Find a good tasting protein powder (good tasting with water, I mean.) Since you said you are lifting, this should be self-explanatory. Not to mention it works great if you are sick of having eggs every morning. Protein powder + Multivitamin + Fiber (for slower digestion of the whey) makes a good breakfast.
6. Learn to love salad, and make a salad to accomodate every meal. Make a huge salad for dinner, and bring some in to work to accomodate your lunch, etc. Lean meat + salad + low-carb veggies = a good, healthy, filling meal.
7. Learn to love cottage cheese. If you need a ice cream replacement, there is nothing better imho. High protein, low fat, low carb. Not to mention you can make "broke-ass ambrosia salad" by mixing it with Jell-O and a little bit of cool whip. way better for you than ice cream <including the low carb, low protein, high fat stuff you will find in stores>, and still tasty.
8. Speaking of Jell-O, Bill Cosby is your best friend on a keto diet. Another staple snack food is sugar-free Jell-o.
Ummm.... that's about it for now, as I'm ranting... I'm sure I could go on forever, but I'll spare the others who are just gonna come into this thread to hate on you
