You've taken the first step into a new world. Something a lot of people do not realize. If your goal is to lose weight, you must say goodbye to all these fastfood places FOREVER. I can't remember the last time I ate at a fast food chain.

Not like i'm a health nut or anything, but i'm getting there :)

danny~!

edit: me so stupid

Good meals aren't burger king, mcdonalds or whatever, it is a meal that you prepare at home, preferably on the barbecue with your own seasoning and your own side dishes.

Summer means lots of good meals here.

Hey, you don't see many overweight Irish either.

If you stopped eating McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's and all other fast foods for the rest of your life, you'd problebly have little reason to diet.

Hell yes. Give me a couple hours of exercise every day and a normal diet vs. no exercise and some weird restrictive diet.

You've never been to Boston then where Dunkin's Donuts is considered fine eating!

actually i eat probably one fast food meal a week, either once a week at work to break the routine or on the weekend.

most of the rest of the week i eat cereal or eggs for breakfast and then some salad of wrap for lunch which lots of fruits and then chicken or steak at night or pasta, but the system i have going is not working out, i gained 15 pounds in a about a month. I'm right now 205 and i'm 6 feet tall.

Of course, all bets are off when you're talking about a liberal commune like Mass. I can't blame them for filling the gaping holes in their souls with maple bars. Notice all the ambitious and hardworking Irish headed west while the lazy despotic ones plopped themselves down right where they landed and haven't moved since.

Good luck man. Hope it works for ya... I lost a ton doing a keto diet, and I wish you the same.

Only problem is if you are savoring your "last meal" you are already having the wrong mindset on it. The whole idea is to change your eating habits for life... If you are looking back on that kind of food as being "special" or a "treat" or whatever you are already doomed. Doing that will pretty much just make you crave it and whatnot.

Here are my tips:

1. Invest in a bada$$ grill, as you will be using it practically daily. It takes a idiot or a woman to screw up grilled meats. (sorry, ladies :D )

2. Learn to LOOOOOOVEE boneless skinless chicken breasts. They are practically a staple food.

3. Get over any "taste disputes" you have with veggies such as asparagus, brussels sprouts, greens, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. Once you learn to actuallly like these, that changes everything. If you can't stand them, slowly work them into your diet (by cheese coating em, etc.) until you start liking them on their own.

4. Keep cans of tuna/chicken around for emergencies and backup plans. Can't find anything in the fridge? Too lazy to cook? Grab a can of tuna or chicken.

5. Find a good tasting protein powder (good tasting with water, I mean.) Since you said you are lifting, this should be self-explanatory. Not to mention it works great if you are sick of having eggs every morning. Protein powder + Multivitamin + Fiber (for slower digestion of the whey) makes a good breakfast.

6. Learn to love salad, and make a salad to accomodate every meal. Make a huge salad for dinner, and bring some in to work to accomodate your lunch, etc. Lean meat + salad + low-carb veggies = a good, healthy, filling meal.

7. Learn to love cottage cheese. If you need a ice cream replacement, there is nothing better imho. High protein, low fat, low carb. Not to mention you can make "broke-ass ambrosia salad" by mixing it with Jell-O and a little bit of cool whip. way better for you than ice cream <including the low carb, low protein, high fat stuff you will find in stores>, and still tasty.

8. Speaking of Jell-O, Bill Cosby is your best friend on a keto diet. Another staple snack food is sugar-free Jell-o.

Ummm.... that's about it for now, as I'm ranting... I'm sure I could go on forever, but I'll spare the others who are just gonna come into this thread to hate on you :D

IMO:

atkins diet = teh suck

here is the real diet to do:

1) no [or very little] fast food
2) when eating regular meals, eat till you are no longer hungry, NOT TILL YOU ARE STUFFED FULL
3) work out a couple times a week

and [stuff said above]

I did that and I dropped all my extra weight wihtin less than a year, and it wasnt really very drastic at all.

The main thing to realize is that if you are overweight, its because somethign in your lifestyle needs to change. If you go on a "diet" for a while, then go back to eating the way you did before, you will just lose some weight, gain it right back, and have wasted time. The real change will happen when you actually change your lifestyle to be more healthy. You'll get used to it and feel better than before. If i go back to mcdonalds etc.. and try to get a hamburger I'll probably be sick since my body is now used to good food.

BTW, if you keep this in mind and do the atkins or some other fast action diet just to get started that may be good.

Yes i already have chicken cutlets ready, also pre-cooked chicken for salads, unfortunately i have to really be picky about foods since all suden i seem to be alergy to varius cheese and dairy products.

also after my first two weeks going to purchase this Powerbars that are low car and high in protein see if that helps me, i dont like the shakes, i end up making a mess at work.

dude if you plan on doing atkins and still exercising 5 days a week ... good luck lol. I have worked out pretty consistant the past 3 years of my life, with some slacking coming in the summer. I have done a low carb/high fat and protein diet, where i would eat under 40g of carbs mon-fri, and then eat whatever I wanted to on the weekends. yes, I lost alot of fatty in areas that is hard to lose fat, and it made my stomach pretty lean giving me a nice six pack. however, when you try to workout without eating hardly any carbs, you will have little to no energy. trust me, this comes from someone who has done this before. and atkins is even LESS than the 40g of carbs I had. you will feel like a complete pvssy when working out, and will want to end your workouts early. trust me dude, if you wanna continue to workout while 'dieting', you should really not consider the atkins diet because you will not help your physical look, aside from losing fat. you will actually lose muscle as well. I personally don't think 205lbs at 6 feet tall is overweight at all. you are probably right on track. maybe you just have fat in areas you don't want it ?
