The XC has grip shifters that you have to twist... the other 3 have trigger shifters which I like better.

I still think the Hardrock Sport offers better bang for the back... :D It's $309 around here... my friend just got one last weekend for $296 out the door @ Supergo. :)

How did he do that?
I mean, should I bargain with the salesperson in the bike store?
Also, I know that you are a Specialized fan boy...

Ya...that's what I think too, and the sport has disk mounts if you want to go with disk brakes in the future.

Anyway...
What is the main advantage o Trek 4300 vs Trek 4100?
Edit: I will do my best to try to go with the Specialized Hardrock Sport...
The problem is that I will have to buy a second bike for my fiance...
I do not think she will go into some hardcore off roading, so will the Trek 4100 be enough for her?

I think they have the same frame, so most likely just components/suspension

Heh... no bargaining... there was a 10% off sale all Specialized bikes at Supergo... :p We saw someone buy a $4500 FS S-Works... so i guess that's $450 off... :Q

The difference between the 4100 and the 4300 are slightly better components... the Alivio is a step above Acera... but frankly i dont think you'll notice the difference around that level. The 4100 is $319 and the 4300 is $359 around here... i dont know how much room there is for that... my guess is around $20 off.

HR Sport is better than XC because it has that awesome frame that is round in the back and square at the front. XC just has regular round tubes from what I am seeing.
I have an 02 hardrock with that square front tube frame, and it looks great, IMO. Acera components aren't great if you mtb a lot. But I am gonna keep the frame and put some new components on it.

Thanks,
But...
What do you think about this:
Ebay Auction
This looks like a nice deal...
Lets hope that I will be able to get it for below $250.00!
Also will the above fit me?
I am 6' 1'' feet tall..

Tell me about it... here's mine before the upgrade bug bit me... currently waiting for stuff to arrive... :(

The Sport frame does look more aggressive... and you can tell its overbuilt... which is why its slightly heavier. Hell the stem alone is probably 1lb already...
