For some reason my lapatop won't wake from STANDBY when the wireless networking card is inserted. Is there anyway to remedy this besides taking out the card or turning off STANDBY? I like the energy saving feature of the STANDBY mode.

Might want to give the specs of your laptop and the card involved. Look for updated drivers and operating system updates.

I have a Dell Inspiron 2650 running WinXP Pro. The card I use is a U.S. Robotics 2410 wireless PC card.

In order for the laptop to wake up properly from STANDBY mode I need to remove the card, shut down, startup, then put the laptop in STANDBY--from that poiint it will wake properly.

If i just remove the card then put it into STANDBY it will not wake up (it freezes).
If I just put it into STANDBY with the card inserted it will not wake up either (it freezes).

I have updated the card driver and have all the Windows XP Pro updates.

You possibly have a conflict between Standby and the Wireless card with respect to some memory segment. That would cause a freeze - or a system crash. Frankly, I never trust STANDBY or HIBERNATE - I never leave the laptop on if I am on battery, and on A/C it really makes no difference as long as the display goes off after a specified period of inactivity.

Your work around does suggest a conflict between the resources used by Standby and the Wireless card. I would let Dell know what is going on - they may have a solution.
