My laptop broke.. HELP PLEASE?

So i need to fix something on my laptop, I wanted to ask you guys what I need to replace because I don't know whats it called..

The part that needs to be replaced is on the MOTHERBOARD, because the power adapter that plugs from the wall to the laptop.. the laptop socket is broken.. i don't know what you call it.. please let me know where i can buy and what is it called? thanks guys...

I'd like to help, but I'll be honest: I wouldn't count on getting much assistance in this forum.

If I understand correctly, you're asking to buy a replacement for the power socket on the laptop. First, do you know if it's removable from the motherboard? If it's soldered on, you're stuck.

And if it isn't, it could be proprietary -- it's not as though shops keep power connectors for specific HP laptops hanging around 'just in case.'

There may be companies that specialize in repairing laptops that would have the part or could otherwise fix things for you, but I couldn't name any off-hand.

Can you resolder it?

Did it just detach from the board or is there a piece missing from it? like the little small piece of metal inside the female part?

It's DC power jack, it's hardwired onto the motherboard. Not too difficult to repair if you're not afraid to take apart your laptop. http://www.impactcomputers.com/imp-148585.html
