The reason complexity is stressed over length, typically, is because certain authentication methods only consider the first X characters as significant. So if "grandma'spaisleyshawl" would grant access after "grandma'sp" is typed, you'd be wishing for that special character gibberish. 🙂

Depends wholly on the implementation, of course.
