a 'no live tracks' radio button in Pandora. Seriously, are live tracks half their freaking catalog??? It's really simple people: live tracks are for concerts, studio tracks are for airplay and home listening. kthnxbye.

3rd'd. I HATE live stuff. I have to wonder if they get the live stuff off license or for cheaper license and fluff up their playlists with it.

Whatever the reason it annoys the shit out of me too.

Same here. There's the VEEEERY rare exception, but in general, live tracks suck.

I agree in general, but Iron Maiden - Live After Death is amazing and I listen to it more than any of their studio albums. A truly fantastic live album.

Scream for me Long Beach!

Huh.. I guess I'm the only one.

I've liked most of the live tracks that Pandora plays. Been some real surprises, like Disturbed doing Fade to Black and KORN doing Pink Floyd's The Wall.

depends on the band

if live tracks are different then studio, then live > studio

if live tracks are same as studio, then studio > live

Don't get me wrong, there are lots of live tracks that are interesting or fun or fine in general...but I don't want them on a general purpose radio station. They're not the same as studio tracks.

The audio quality of a lot of live tracks makes me cringe, but there are rare live tracks that make you look at the original in a new light.

Pushit(Live) by Tool is exponentially better than the studio version.

I must be the exception, I LOVE live tracks, much more feeling in them, I like the rawness of them

+1 as long as you can turn it on and off. Or a specific, I don't like THIS version of THIS song. Not, I don't like this son.

I also want a "no remixes" button. I just know when I thumbs down a Shiny Toy Guns remix, it is going to screw with all the other shiny toy guns tracks I listen to.

Actually, that's what the thumbs down is. I often downgrade live versions then go find the studio version through search and give it a thumbsup. Going forward the studio will play but not the live.

How do you search with Pandora?

Also, is there a way to add a band to start playing on your station?

I've only recently started using it.

That's a great idea. I should do this. Thanks.

:hmm:

I'm using a non-standard Pandora player. I'll have to play around and see if this is possible.

Each player or app should have the ability to "seed" your station by song, group, or genre. I've been using the iPhone app lately and you can edit your channel, see a list of songs you've marked up or down, change a song's marking, add, remove, or edit seed terms, etc.

I guess that will work. I'm a lazy American though.

I'm just thinking of their whole "music genome" thing that it doesn't just affect that song, it affects the whole station with the attributes of that song.

Which?

I almost thought Disturbed doing Fade to Black was actually Metallica, but I kept wondering because it just wasn't quite right in the vocal department. So I looked, and was both surprised and not when I saw Disturbed.

Same with the The Wall by KORN. I guess that's not live, now that I think about it. It's a little KORN-ized, but overall I really like it. Again, pleasantly surprised because I'm not a KORN fan at all.
