my job wants to promote me

taco bell wants to promote me to a shift manager, but I don't want to, they are really pushing it, and are making things happen like that without letting me know, I'm like WTF, what the ****** should I do?

Throw a taco in a customer's face and say it was an accident. They won't allow such a loose cannon in management.

It might backfire though.

Hey, I wouldn't want it either. Management at Fast Food means you have a lot more to deal with, and if you don't want the extra pay and responsibility, then just continue to do your job.

Now some management experience might look good on your resume, but unless you are planning to move up the Corporate ladder at YUM -- I don't think it would be that much of a help.

"Can i get extra steak with my steak taco?"

"sorry sir, i have to get the shift manager's approval for this change control"

that's where you come in.

yeah they give me a 50 cent raise, most shift man's make less than 9 bucks.

edit: I don't see how a management position would help on a resume anyway, 'cuz I'm joining the Army anyhow, so fastfood on a resume will be nothing.

But then you can make the schedule.

Schedule making = Power!

not quite:

here are the "ranks" as listed

crew member
shift manager
as. manager
general manager

-you are not in power, you get crappier shift actually when you become shift manager, like close a store and open it the next morning, 3 hours of sleep that night for a flimsy 50 cent raise?

anything above general manager is 50K plus a year.

you got a problem with a man working to make a living?

Go do something with your life.

He is working while you are sitting at home all day playing a video game hoping to make your living selling your 190+ hours on ebay.

To be honest - if you don't want it, tell them you're not interested.

But in all honesty, regardless if you're heading to the army, and regardless that it's taco bell, if you have management experience on your resume, that's a GOOD thing. First off, it will show that you're an excellent employee with a good work ethic to get that far. Second off, it's MANAGEMENT experience. You can use that to your advantage when you're done with the army. Take your training provided by the mil, add management experience to it, walk into the real world and instead of getting grunt job, get supervisor/manager job in your new technically (military) trained profession. Instant extra 20k in the pocket and a couple extra rungs up the corporate ladder!
