Below is a general map of the property and how I think it would work to lay out the zones. One thing I am not clear on is whether I need to drop down to 1/2 in lines or if I should stay with 3/4 for all the individual sprinkler lines. btw, this is about 3 acres.

Looks like you live in a desert, and shouldn't be wasting water.

It all depends on what you consider waste. The amount of food I can grow here is pretty impressive. Arizona actually has great soils, so it is a tradeoff.

The amount of water that you need to use is way more than it is required somewhere in Midwest. For same result.

If you have the water and its affordable, you can green up a desert pretty easily.

I highly doubt this. I've been to AZ. It's pure dust sand. I live in Northeast, and my parents' backyard has amazing soil for no reason.. like dark and moist at any time, just like a chocolate cake.

It depends on where you are at. I have never had any problems growing a wide array of fruit trees here without doing much to the soil.

Most of what I am putting in is native plant life. It is much easier to get it going with water available. Randomly planting seeds is not very effective. The two areas in the back are gardens...I am not entirely sure what I will be planting.

How come you go north with the trunk instead of continuing along the same line was the main? Might save some pipe runs. Of course all my experience in laying pipes has been in Simcity.

If it were me, I'd heavily reduce the pipe sprawl, and use a greywater irrigation system, with solar pumps if going uphill was necessary. The west doesn't have water for frivolous use, and greening a dust bowl is frivolous.

What a waste of water. But, looks like it would work to me.
I have an abundance of water - many feet deep in the well, and the level only barely changes seasonally. I have a stream that I could dam and use the water from. I don't irrigate.

I think you may be very optimistic about how many sprinkler heads you will be able to put on each zone.
