My ipod isn't connecting with itunes?

I have a 30gb iPod video. Now, when I plug it into my computer via USB, my computer recognizes it, but my iTunes doesn't, and it actually freezes my iTunes. I am wondering if there are any fixes to this, or if I need to send it in. I have tried updating software, as well as using different USB's. Any suggestions.

Thanks,
Walzber

in short, use manually update ipod, so when u plug it in it doesnt launch itunes automatucally. Then launch itunes. Try it

I have heard stories of problems with certain USB cards recognizing the Ipod. My bro had this trouble and said after much frustration he ran some google searches and found lots of people with this problem. Don't know if thats it but you might do some research on that or try a different USB card.

I figured it out. I ended up doing a manual format through system configuration. I re-registered the i-pod over the phone with apple, and found out that the software on it was out date. So, when I formatted teh ipod, i was prompted by iTunes 7 to get the latest software.
