My iPhone 5S Verizon from Prepaid 3GS

I have to say I'm quite pleased with the iPhone 5S. I have it on Verizon and I have very fast data. Some things I've noticed.

1) This phone is light and small compared to the 3GS. I actually bought a Morphie Juice Pack Plus to get more battery, protection, and some extra bulk so I could hold it more comfortably.

2) It is very fast. I would guess somewhere around 5-10x faster than my 3GS at most things, like rendering webpages and the like. I'm still getting used to webpages being there before my finger leaves the screen when I touch a link. I was so used to waiting 5-10 seconds.

3)The camera is amazingly fast! It has and LED and I can use is as a flashlight. The 3GS camera was trash. This one even has one on the front!

4) iOS 7 is speedy on it. I personally liked the old icons, but not a big deal. I like the new swipe up console to turn on and off bluetooth wifi do not disturb etc.

5)Siri is pretty good. The voice recognition is pretty darn good.

6) The fingerprint thing works quite well. I'm still used to just typing in a code, so I find myself still doing that, but the finger print thing usually works on the first or second try.

Overall I'm very happy to be in the 21st century finally with a decent data plan and all that.

The speed increase was stunning to me when I went from 3GS to 5. Especially when browsing, when on a fast connection (and I have hit 60+ MBps down, 15+ MBps up on AT&T's LTE) it appears to be instantaneous. On these good connections, it is faster to load pages than my 2011 MBP in most cases, although I use Firefox+Extensions on my MBP, so there's a performance hit there.

Also have to keep in mind mobile vs desktop site and load size.

But congrats on the new phone OP. Welcome to the 5s club. Thinking mine will hold me over for the next couple years no problem. Hoping the 64 bit will come into play in the next year or so and we will see some more performance improvements on this phone as apps are ported to 64 bit.

True, but the 5S is fast even with desktop sites (at least in the little time I spent playing with it). It's impressive.

The other thing is I'm sure iOS will shift to 64-bit only in not so long. iOS 9? iOS 10? That will cut off the 5C and 5 completely.

By iOS9 or iOS10 the 5S will be slow 😛

I think it will be OK CPU-wise. The one thing I'm worried about is the 1 GB RAM.

However, it will still likely work, as opposed to the iPhone 5C and 5, won't be compatible with 64-bit-only iOS.

Hoping it is at least much more optimized for the 5s by iOS 9/10. iOS 9 will be 2 years with the phone for me so I'll likely be upgrading anyways.

1gb of ram is my only concern as well especially since I like to jb when they come out. 2gb would have been awesome with this phone. But I doubt I'll notice the difference.
