I got this idea last night while working on my friend's watercooled setup. he had some nice anodized nuts and screws and when i was using metal pliers and stuff on them, it totally jacked up the anodizing and scratched everything. Then i thought.. what if they had PLASTIC tools!

plastic wrenches,
plastic pliers,
plastic screwdrivers.. etc.. etc.

Of course it woulnd't be used in situations where you need heavy duty work, but in light delicate situations it would be PERFECT! no scratching, strong enough to get some work done, and CHEAP!!! maybe even disposable.

I'm gonna be RICH!!!!

someone tell me if this idea is crazy and i'm out of my mind and no one would ever buy this.

Plastic gives too much. wouldn't work for things like wrenches, pliers or screw drivers.

plus the metal nuts and screws would just eat up the tools.

It'd have to be some heavy duty plastic. I was mopping the floor the other day and when I went to sqeeze the water out, the handle splintered and took a good hunk of skin with it. You'd have to make sure the plastic wouldn't do the same as you were using it (ie, wouldn't splinter as you applied the force necessary to unscrew a stuck screw).

Don't quit your day job. This idea has already been done. Do a search for soft-jaw pliers. You can also buy protective plastic caps for existing tools.:)

maybe if you put on bolts with a correctly sized box wrench instead of vise grips they wouldn't get scratched up.

Plastics are bad for the environment. The suggestion that you would make disposable plastic tools is a horrid thought. Lets refrain from making *everything* out of plastic.
