Just got notified by the cable company, my connection has been upgraded from 3mbps to 5mbps for FREE! Now if only they could make me cool for free too...hmm.
 
that happened here a while ago too. but still the same old 30 GB cap, only now you can reach it faster! could be worse though, a lot of people are capped at 20 GB - you can reach that in less then 10 hours :Q

same. but i have 1.5 mbps being home from college. having cable for 7 years makes it seem so slow especially when bt hits the bandwidth cap.
 
cable generally blows. if you don't subscibe to basic cable you get robbed and even if you do it's still more expensive than dsl.

yea my connection is 3mbs and it's plenty...seems like most of the time i don't even get to max it out anyhow. i used to be able to on usenet but all the fvcking fios ***holes started gobbling up the bandwidth.

I live in a small college town, I don't think there's a big cap. They upgraded the normal 1.5 customers to 3 as well. I upped around 1TB last month, and had about 60gb or so down and that's not including my roomate's traffic. There's about 8 computer's in the house between us.

I thought so too, but we get 5mbps down with digital cable and all the HBO's for less than $85/mo. I've been very pleased. bc I have the small business package there aren't as many people in my area on that switch and I think that helps a lot.
 
VerizonDSL is sucking for me in inclement weather (like right now) with intermittent drops. I left cable because they suck on principle. I am really in need of FIOS right now.

damn, i could not imagine being on dialup now. it's take forever just for the stupid flash ads on websites (ie - espn.com) to load.
