I have a DSL connection being shared between 2 computers {Win98 and Win2k} through a Linksys switch and today the internet connection on the Win2k box just stopped working...ICQ and email and napster etc... still work but when i try to actually go to a site on the net i cant...i noticed on the bottom of the IE screen that every site i try to connect to says Connecting To Site 127.0.0.1...WHAT IS THE PROBLEM??

Hmm... check your DNS settings... do you have the DNS pointing to your server PC or an outside DNS server? seems like you have DNS set to 127.0.0.1

How are you sharing your connection? Like what is your setup at home? Do you get 2 IPs?

Since I believe 127.0.0.1 is an internal IP, one that is reserved for local networks like 192.168.0.1... So it seems to me that IE is looking inside the network for a connection...

How about the configuration in IE? Like did you configure IE to use a proxy server?

Who is your carrier and where are you? I used to have the same problem all the time until I configured myself for a different DNS server. I can give you a pretty reliable address if you need one.
