my inkjet printer destroyed itself

It wasn't in use since the end of last school year and its been sitting around for three months.

It was clogged up so much it didn't print anything at all. After about six nozzle clean up in a row, it seems to work, but it used a significant amount of ink which costs a fortune to replace.

Thefore, there goes the printer. Crappy products these days.

The card reader + scanner is kick ass on this combo unit though 🙁
I have a Samsung laser printer for real printing.

The repair cost using all OEM parts is $60. I paid $99 for this printer...

I know Epson gets a bad rap, but my 880 has treated me well for almost 4 years now. That being said, if it starts to go, I'll probably go with a Canon.

And I bet you've likely spent no more than $160 on ink (toner). How many pages have you print from it? Office printer? Laser printers are wonderful, while they're fairly complex, they seem to suffer fewer problems than ink jet printers in my experience.

I FINALLY got the CX4600 unclogged. Well, I used four brand new generic cartridges and by the time the nozzles were unclogged, the brand new cartridges were depleted to 50% left per ink status monitor. What a piece of junk this printer is

I used to have an Epson printer that had horrible clogging problems too. Never again. Canon FTW. 😉

my canon i850 clogged up after two years..
I used it regularly too..

I just throw out a canon, stupid thing wouldn't use black ink. I think the printhead was bad, the price of a new print head is more then buying a new printer.

I would say two years is a long time for a inkjet. The printhead only last so long if used quite a bit. Today a decent Canon inkjet {the IP3000} can be bought for about $35.

If you spend $35 every 2 years on a printer your getting a steal.
