My idea to cut down drug problems

Make drugs freely available on the NHS, requiring a prescription. This way no drug dealers, no murdering and gangs, why pay when you can get them free legally? And on a side not everyone would get the medical care they need, for free when they have problems plus regular check ups.

Thoughts?

Or we could approach the problem from the consumer side, and eliminate the demand. Make possession and use of every illegal drug punishable by death. The problem would solve it self in just a few years.

I'm not paying for it but the money saved by not having to deal with drug dealers etc would cover it.

I firmly believe all drugs should be legal and sold through pharmacies with some way that tracks your purchases to your file so your healthcare professionals know what the hell you do so they can properly treat you in case of any issues. I also believe any crimes committed under the influence of any mind altering drugs should have harsher penalties.

I am down for legalizing all drugs, but people should have to buy their own. Without the pressures of law enforcement and the ability to effectively industrialize production, prices would be cheap enough that we could kill off the black market anyway without giving it away for free.

I think that we need to take a cold, hard look at drug policy in the US. Sure, drugs do cause societal problems, but I believe that current drug policy and prohibitions do more to amplify these problems than prevent them.

But hey, I could go for the Dennis Leary approach too.

Have the .gov make/grow the drugs = tons of jobs

Charge the junkies well below current black market rate while still turning massive profit = .gov revenue

No more war on drugs and vastly reduce the prison population = less cost to .gov

Remove 90% of the gangs funding, drug dealers become non existent, no more innocent people killed in drug shootouts, tons of family pets are saved

Druggies who would have done drugs anyway still use drugs

I have a better idea that would bring forth a much faster and effective solution, put all confiscated drugs back out on the street but lace ever tenth dose with cyanide.

They would learn to cut it properly and not die from it which would prevent the desired outcome from a state sponsored program for drugs.

There are a lot of ways to have fun, illegal drugs isn't really needed.

Present the choice to alcoholics, sure, that would be a good thing.
