My friend pointed me to a download site for old Nickelodeon's You Can't Do That On Television episodes. The episodes were encoded with the commercials intact. So, I watched them too.. Wow.. I never realized how 'adult' that show was since last time I watched it, I was probby 8 years old. Barth is hilarious. And the father dude with messy tie is hilarious too. OMG, laughed my ass off.

Then.. the 80s commercials came on. I got a kick out of it. First, Barney Rubble in drag advertising Fruity Pebbles (just thought it was ironic in a funny way). Then, the Whamo frisbee that has a top built into it. I remember having one of those frisbees.. it was pretty damn sweet. I knocked out my first front tooth (kindergarten) with one of those. Then, the Honeycomb Hideout.. Is it just me, or were almost all the commercials on Nickelodeon for kids' cereal? Then.. oreo cookies. Yippy..

I was thinking it would be cool to replay stuff like that - shows that we (the MAIN TV-watching demographic) grew up to.

I wouldn't mind seeing stuff like Miami Vice on TV either. All that stuff is so old that I only vaguely remember watching it.. but I don't remember what any of the episodes were about.

I think a channel like that would be successful if they played the stuff that we watched while we were growing up. I'd also like to see some of the old commercials.

Um, you can see 80's shows on about half of the crap channels on cable. Who cares about commercials, I don't want to be reminded of cabbage patch dolls and that gay ass electronic football game.

I've always thought it would be cool to see old 80's commercials and TV spots (ad spots for Miami Vice or Three's Company). There's a few sites where you can view some. I'd like the link to the "You Can't Do That" episodes with commercials.

Actually, on cable, there is TVLand which plays old shows, there is also VH1 Classics which plays a lot of 80s music video. WGN and Trio also show old shows. There was an episode of "That 70s Show" that ran commericals from the 70s as a stunt.

Showing old commericals won't work because it is the advertisers who pay that decide which commericals to run. I doubt that Coke wants to show commericals with the models in big 80s hair or knee high white socks and short shorts. I could watch the Where's the Beef Commericals ... or the I'll fallen and I can't get up lady all day long however! :D
