My ICQ has gone crazy!!!

My ICQ has gone crazy the last couple of days.
Any message I send to anyone keeps on resending itself every 10 mins or so.

I sent my wife a note and when she switched on ICQ, she had 47 copies of the message waiting....and still it kept coming......I tried sending another couple to test...and now she gets all 3 messages resent every 10 mins......its freakin' weird.

She tried removing me as a user and adding me back....still the messages piled up waiting for her......now she is geting pissed

Help.....what should I do?

Does it continue to send them even if you are disconnected from your ICQ? If so, that would indicate some massive problem with the ICQ network itself, rather than either of your computers.

Also, is it possible that your ICQ's are out of date?

It's ICQ, what exactly were you expecting? A solid program that isn't bogged down with features and an aggravating interface? Go back in time to the initial relase of it then.

Yes.....it happens whether I am online or offline.
We use different ICQ versions...I use 2000b she uses 98.

It has been working perfectly until a few days ago.....argh!

if I am not mistaken, they recommend you to use at least ICQ 99. I belive ICQ 99 is the best among the other version but since I need the SMS feature, I use 2000 one. Don't worry ICQ 2001 will be out soon.

Maybe you could try updating her to 2000b? I'm not sure I'd recommend 2001a, in fact, I'm not even sure you can still download 2001.

But yes, ICQ is incredibly buggy & bloated, I have seen some very odd behavior myself.

Well I updated her to 2000b....but it had a major bug.
She uses it to check and delete from multiple Email accounts and there was some bug in 2000b that wouldn't do something properly...so she went back to the tried and trusted 98.

I don't use it to check Email....so I didn't care about the bug......

can you still download ICQ 99 anywhere......that may be worth a shot

I don't know of any places off the top off my head, but I bet if you went to google and searched for "icq 99b" you might get some places that still have the installer available for download. Or maybe even on mirabilis, I guess I haven't looked, but they may archive them.
