My IBM laptop A31p cannot go to standby mode. Please Help...

Whenever I try the standby option, the screen will say that it's standing by then goes to black screen but it doesn't go to standby. It just freezes right there. Nothing happens.

I am using Windows XP and already applied all the latest update from MS.

The video card is ATI 7800.

Before I did a clean install, everything was right. After I did a clean install, then this problem arises.


Anyone can help me out? I am so confused as what to do now.

Try going to your Control Panel and selecting Power Options. There are some setting there that may need adjusting.

I'm not sure this will help, but it is a start.

I did that. Playing around with setting with no luck at all.

Go to the Advanced tab, under "when I close the lid" select stand by. Close the lid and wait a good 2 minutes. If it goes into standby that way, reset that option to whatever you like and try standby the old fashion way.

no luck at all with the suggestions that you said. I also cleaned the ati drivers and clean the IBM PM on the system manager with no luck at all.

I got it fixed by reinstalling my windows. I think there's something with kerio. When I installed kerio I got that problem again. When I uninstalled it, everything went back to normal
