This project is an interesting fusion of old and new. Old school audio, all computer controlled. Radio and over the air TV reception through a Leadtek TV2000. Wireless keyboard and mouse.
The only piece of hardware that you can actually SEE in this that isn't going to be in the final build is the monitor - which is a really shoddy old 19" CRT at the moment - this will be replaced with a nice, black Viewsonic P95F-B 19" CRT. The ethernet cable that you see snaking out around the right speaker will be routed into the wall.

And here is a screenshot of the OS (As mocked up on this computer) - obviously this thing won't be nearly as cluttered.
Note the system metrics display (Most of it's functions are nonfunctional on this machine - I don't have things like MBM installed). This will be crucial.

The theme I downloaded, the SysMetrix theme I downloaded, the bootscreen and logon screen are both custom by myself. They match the desktop flawlessly - the boot screen flows smoothly into the login screen, which flows smoothly into the desktop. There is a similar bootscreen by Swissboy, which I elected not to use because it has a Windows XP logo in the corner, which would 'jump' and ruin the smooth transitions. The usernames on the logon screen are invisible until you mouseover them, when they fade in, so these don't suddenly appear either.
The visual work isn't completed yet (I still need to hack the default screensaver and explorer.exe itself) and won't be transferred until the final hardware for the machine is installed.
Hardware configuration will be as follows:
Epox KT266a mobo (Temporary, until I can find an NF7-S that is priced reasonably)
Athlon XP 2200+
256mb PC2100
10gb Quantum HDD
160gb Maxtor HDD
Pioneer DVR-105 (Temporary, until I can justify buying a black DVR-106 or 107)
SBLive Value - Temporary, until I can afford an M-Audio professional board (Delta series, not that crappy Revolution thang)
FSP/Sparkle 350w 120mm single fan PSU (Mad quiet ownage)
Radeon 9100
