My HTC 7 Surround turned into a brick

Last night, my HTC 7 Surround turned itself off before my eyes. I turned it back on and up came the HTC white boot screen, and then nothing else happened. It never completed the boot into Windows Phone 7.

It was fully charged, so that isn't the issue.

I pulled the battery, let it sit for 5 minutes, re-installed the battery, still no joy.

I even did a reset to factory settings, which appeared to work, but it still won't come to life.

I dropped it off at the dealer that my company buys phones from and it is still under warranty, so I have a cheap flip phone as a loaner, but I am interested if anyone has any experience dealing with HTC on a warranty issue.

Are they likely to just give me a new or refurbished phone, or are they going to take a week or two to try to repair this one?

Anyone else experience this problem on an HTC?

I had no problem getting a replacement Nexus One from HTC. I emailed them, talked to them when they followed up, and they offered to send me a replacement. Hopefully nothing's changed on their end.

Most people I know have good things to say about HTC. I just got my HTC 7 Mozart about 30 minutes ago. It's currently installing some software updates.

I literally spent months on the fence but finally decided to go with it after some price drops (cost me $372 for an unlocked set here). It was either this or a HTC Wildfire S, I'm pretty sure I made the right call.

Let's hope mine lasts me good while. :)

AT&T replaced my Surround under warranty. There is a service location near where I live so I just took it in to them. Mine was rebooting randomly and sometimes the left third of the touch screen wouldn't work.

My phone was returned from the service depot today. They changed out the LCM (LCD) and all is well.

The phone was reset, so all my contacts, calendar, apps, etc were gone but it really is amazing how simply typing in my Windows Live ID and password and the entire phone is loaded. My contacts, calender, pictures and all my apps loaded themselves and I was back in business in just a few minutes.
