my hp dv2000 laptop is not turning on?

my hp dv 2000 battery is unable to turn on.i am unable to find out the reason can any body assist me regarding this issue?
 
Remove the battery from the dv2000 and see if it will run on A/C adapter directly. HP's should run fine w/o battery. I just got out my old dv1000 - runs perfectly sans battery.

If that works, then replace the battery. It is definitely old enough to have ceased work.

If it will not turn on with only the A/C adapter, then replace the A/C adapter.
