MDF board at $20 per sheet I bought 22 sheets of that stuff for the boxes.thats $440
and I know I spent easy over $4000 finishing the basement this is a low estament the basement was unfinished when I started.. Nothing but concret.

Really not all that bad. Does the HTPC handle the DVDs and TV and stuff? You didnt list anything else.

No I have direct TV so no way really for a PC to handle that.. I had bought a AIW but quickly found out that no way to control direct tv with it so I gave up on a DVR idea till I get cable here.
and yes the HTPC does the DVD part and does it well with digital optical out

Thanks, and I don't mean to be picky or annoying, but could you tell what speakers you used for the surrounds and other stuff?

Basically, I want to you know, did you go 5.1 or 7.1 and what speakers did you use? I know you'd be like 5.34 or 7.34 or something with all those subs but, give me the simple info. And what screen is that? I'm planning on buying the same projector or a very similar one.

When we set ours up, it will be much simpler: Receiver, 5.1 or 7.1 speakers, Probably same projector as you, and screen we have to decide on. Obviously, there will be an HTPC, DVD Player, VCR Player just incase, hehe, satelite receiver, and possibly a few other things. Also, is a preamp or an amp necessary? We don't have one with our current 5.1 system for the family room.
