my home theater setup, 80% done

Monitor: Samsumg HLS-5087W 50" 1080p DLP
A/V Receiver: Denon AVS-2807 110w 7.1 channel HDMI switching
Speakers: Monitor Audio RS-6 Rosenut (2 channel for now, hence the 80%)
DVD Player: Samsung HD-960, upconverts to 1080p
Mac Mini: Plays music from iTunes and downloaded bt content all via front row
Stand: Bello

It all came together faster than I expected. After I bought the TV I had to buy the DVD player to get that 1080p. After that I had to buy the speakers/receiver because the tv speakers weren't cutting it. After that I had to buy the mac mini because I had no way to play my music through my beautiful new speakers or any other content I downloaded. (I watched the latest episode of Lost on my 19" lcd before I got the mini )

Now to do some cable management.

But I'm a freshman in college. HOrray for some sony 5.1 surround (550watt) for 100 bucks (w/ powered sub), a 32" Sony Triniton monitor (50 bucks) and my PC!

If I get a pic, Ill post it on ATOT, it is pretty funny.

Not exactly central heating. It looks like it has a knob, so it's probably a standalone unit. I've seen a heater built into a wall like that before.

Not exactly central heating. It looks like it has a knob, so it's probably a standalone unit. I've seen a heater built into a wall like that before.

ouch why the mac mini. if you're going to spend the cash, get a HTPC with MCE or Beyond TV, front row is probably the worst implementation of a home theater interface.

Even my boss (Who has 5 mac's and only had a pc for finances) got a PC for MCE.

for the ease.
1) it's quiet
2) it's compact
3) everything is built-in WiFi, bluetooth
4) it's hassle free

I could go buy components to build a HTPC then hassle through loading up MCE or Beyond TV. The mini took me 10 mins to setup.

Sweet. Keep your receipts offsite if possible. In case disaster or theft, youll need them for your homeowners /renters insurance.

You always have to keep that in back your mind. Comming home to an empty house is just sad.

meh, he's killing them. They're WAY too close to the rear wall to sound good.

OP - listen to some CDs that you are familiar with. You should not be able to point out the speakers. When you have that, your speakers are positioned correctly.

how much room do I need? they're about a 1 - 1.5 feet away from the wall already.

I love the TV. One thing, I paid like $2200 from ibuydigital.com (paid extra for 3 extra warrenty years and faster shipping). My friend just bought the same one for $1700 shipped from amazon. Whata difference 2 months makes.

It's crap, but it's the only decent one I found at $150 price point. It makes this odd beeping sounds when I hook it up to my receiver via HDMI. (I have to use optical, nobody at Magnolia could figure out why). I'm planning on upgrade to BR or HD-DVD in 6 months so I don't want to spend much on a SD dvd player.
