My hobby: walking on the left side of hallways

Leros

Lifer
Whenever I'm in a non-empty (and also non-crowded) hallway, I always make a point to walk on the left side.

Its amusing to see how some people react. Something like 25% of people are compelled to pass me on the right even though there isn't enough room. They'll try to squeeze between me and the wall even though there is plenty of space if they passed on the left.

I find it terribly amusing.

lol, Indians and Britons.

EDIT: wtf, apparently Japan has left-hand traffic as well. How backwards.

Not backward, just different. Its what got me interested.

Passing on the left/right is such an arbitrary decision, but it is something that becomes ubiquitous within a culture. We do it without thinking about it. I find it interesting to see how people react or fail to adapt to a change in something like passing on a certain side.

It started when I observed foreigners in the engineering department at my college walking on the left side of the halls/sidewalks.

lol. both of you guys are correct.

I have made the same independent observations--using a highly international, major University population.

:hmm:

The datar is all in my head, btw.

Fuck it. Now I like your style

I agree that it does make lie more interesting. I only do it when my head is in a fog, though.

Get into an elevator and let the doors close behind you. Take a stance o dominance and stare down everyone else in the elevator.

If anyone holds eye contact for more than 5 seconds, fart loudly and blame it on them.

Based on the context of the op, a more appropriate suggestion would be to hit the button for the top floor and stand at the very front of the door so everyone else has to wiggle around you. Bonus points if you're carrying one of those rolling backpacks.

I remember turning a corner in 6th grade to have a tiny girl right in front of me. We both impulsively jumped to sides and back multiple times and in the fright of it all I forgot how the situation was resolved. My friend walking with me laughed his ass off and said "Hahaha, you sure showed her!" I felt awful.

What else do you do in an effort to get attention?

Of course you walk on the left side in corridors and in general. Everyone does this, at least here... Except for escalators, where you stand to the right side so those who are in a hurry can walk to the left.

It's the opposite in the states, much like lanes on the road.

So basically he's being a fuck.
