So I recently bought a Samsung F4 2TB (HD204UI). I ran HD Tune and this is what I got.

Something doesn't seem quite right with those numerous dips. I've seen this before in a review, I think... but I don't remember what the problem might be.

Try a higher blocksize, somewhere in the preferences? Or perhaps that option is available in the Pro suite only.

You may want to try AS SSD and CrystalDiskMark as well.

I don't see any options to change anything for the free version I'm using.

Ran HD Tune again and got this:

Seems fine now...

I ran CrystalDiskMark and got this:

I guess there's nothing to worry about.

Seems right and your cluster size should be 4KB on a 2TB drive so that is proper.

Myself I had to manually change my cluster size to 512 bytes ... then I got the higher CrystalMarks and Passmarks like 30 to 40 percent higher scores by doing that. Then I read that this drive specs are 512 bytes,, soo ya,, too bad it doesnt format it to that by default a lot of people need to know this and put 512 bytes... when did that I get this its single platter F4 320GB as primary drive.

Don't set cluster size to 512 bytes on a 4K drive; leave it at default (4K i think). Else it would massively slowdown.

@Tweakboy: you have F4 as well, but the 320GB F4 does not use 4KiB sectors; so your disk will differ from the 2TB F4 which does use 4KiB sectors.

Exactly yes sub.mesa you are correct. just go with the drive specs which is usually 4KB cluster size especially on a large 2TB drive. If you finger it and reduce it it might back fire and actually be a slower drive. So ya as Sub.Mesa said leave it alone default which is 4KB especially for a larger sized drive. thx gg
