My hd don´t like 1050 but the rest of my putter does?

This is really weird. I have a PIII700@1050 with an Alpha P3125SM60 ASUS P3B-F and 256MB(2*128) Mushkin High Perf REV 2 RAM and running Prime95 for about 6 hourers works but running Norton AV 2001 scan doesn´t work, craches half way through, and when converting a HD with NTFS so it becomes a compressed drive (in win2k) my putter craches to.

First I thought it was a PCI buss speed issue but my putter works fine with a PCI speed of 38.22MHz(115FSB/3). And @150MHz fsb the pci speed is below that(37,5MHz) so it must be something else.

Running Q3A in a loop with Prime95 in the background allso works. Although it seems as the matrox win2k drivers(or something) have a memoryleak because I get this at deaufault speed too after 1h with Q3A in a loop:

Could it be a BX chipset heat issue?

Erich:(

I'm taking a stab in the dark here, but I wonder, if the PCI bus is overclocked I know that expansion cards are affected, is the controller board on the HD affected in the same way? If so, maybe it's the hard drive controller and not the chipset.....can anyone shed light on this theory?

AMDfreak: Well the Southtbridge and the Northbridge is connected with the PCI buss, so if the PCI buss is overcklocked the Southbridge is overclocked too. And I am using the integrated controller in the Intel Southbridge(BX), so yes the IDE controler is overklocked. But then it shouldn´t work when the PCI buss is @38.33MHz, but it does. Very strange me thinks:confused:

Bought it from Dustin AB. Did you read about the T-bird 1.33GHz roumers over at The Register? Thats the retailer I bought it from:):).

Norton AV error may or may not be related to HD (I am guessing now). Are you sure your system is otherwise stable? I would not call 6hr of Prime95 a sufficient test for stability. I would recommend a bump in voltage (maybe also run the memory at cas3) and run Norton AV again to see if this solves the problem.

Just offering my 2 cents.
