My Harmony Remote is smart..... How does it know?

Say i hit off, each of my devices turns off... Occationally though, the reciever dosent turn off. If i hit help, before it even asks any questions, it trys something, and says "did that fix the problem"?

Usually, 9/10 it did.

How did it know?

It may just be repeating the macro it used the first time it you hit the command. *shrug*

love my harmony remote too, but most the time when I use the help, I have to tell it what's wrong. The first thing it tries (that I can tell) is turn on all zones of my receiver.

Assuming your receiver/whatever has discrete codes, then I'm sure they did enough testing to know the most asked questions, with on/off being the first.

I just bought one and I must say, it was worth the 100 bucks.

i think i only paid $39

I got one for free from our Logitec rep

Typically when it does this for me it just sends another signal to turn it on - but it may just be that in my case from the far couch there is usually something blocking the IR receiver on the reciever

I love mine but the biggest pet peeve I have with it is when I go from watching my DVR to my DVD player it goes just fine but when I switch back from my DVD player to my DVR it never lands on the right input source setting for my TV and I have to manually flip through my sources until I get it back to the correct one for the DVR.

I'm still not used to the motion sensor on mine. Everytime I walk in the room, it starts glowing... weird.

As long as it doesn't start talking I think you're alright.

I have a question.. why are the Harmony remotes so ugly? It's like Logitech decided not to have their regular design staff work on it, and instead called in their guys from the 90s.

Logitech paid me to take one off their hands

thyey paid me and gave a hooker for the night to take one!

They gave me a controlling share of stock in their company.

your receiver didn't turn off probably because it didn't receive the IR from the remote for whatever reason, so when you pressed help, I bet the remote just automatically resent the last command since that's the most common problem.
