My hard drive makes my headphones make a fuzzy noise

I just bought the "Zalman Theatre 6" 5.1 channel headphones from someone on the forums. He said he only used them for an hour. He included an adapter so I could use them to play my XBOX, and they worked fine for that. Then when I plugged them into my computer, the were extremely loud (they don't have a volume knob) and I had to turn my master volume almost all the way down.

They work fine, but I can hear a fuzzy noise, and even when I turn the master volume all the way down, I can still hear it just as loud. Is it because I have onboard sound?

EDIT: Whenever my hard drive light comes on is when I hear the noise. I have an ExcelStor 80GB HDD. Any ideas?

I used to get noise from my hard disk coming through my headphones with the sound card muted.

I just checked the hard drive thing. I started in Safe Mode and I could hardly hear the noise, then whenever the HDD light would come on, the noise would get louder. So any ideas how to fix it?

Alright, I switched IDE channels, no difference. I switched from my round cables to normal ribbon cables, and again no difference. I even used a different hard drive, and there was no difference.

I will try it on a whole different system, but I don't think I will hear it on that system. It is probably my $40 motherboard. I plugged them into my DVD player/surround system and I heard zero static or fuzz. Shouldn't an audio card work?

Please post back after you have tried them on a different system.
That is easy.

Next, try a pci sound card.
See if that does it. Remember to disable audio in BIOS before you install the new card.

I tested it on my mom's computer and she has onboard audio, but it didn't make any noise. So I ordered a cheap 5.1 channel card from Newegg.com.
