I just put together a new computer (p4 2.53 on ASUS P4PE) and I couldn't get my hard drive to format so I tried using another hard drive and successfully formatted it but now bios won't detect that it's even there I even tried a third hard drive and a few different ide cables with no success. Any thoughts would be great.

Use ATA 66/100 cable and set the drive jumpers to CS. Then make sure that it is in the cable's end connector (Master.)

If cable select doesn't work. Make sure you have the settings on the HDD set to Master. And make sure it's in the MASTER connector on the cable.

Good Luck

Make sure your drive is set as master, is connected to the end of the IDE cable (not the middle connector), and that you're using the primary IDE channel.
