My half-modded XBOX

Got my Xecuter 3, and a Seagate 200Gb, Torx 20 and Torx 10, solder and soldering iron, opened up the xbox, started installing the mod chip. When I get to the v1.6 LPC Rebuild I notice that the wires don't come with the X3 kit. I don't have wires, so it looks like I'll have to go to radio shack tomorrow, and wait another day (I've been looking forward to doing this for a couple weeks, and thought today would finally be the day).

I actually considered "making" my own wires by wrapping electrical tape around the solder wire.

don't "make" your own wires. The wires you need are stranded copper, which are more easily mobile than using anything solid, like solder. Just wait until you can goto radio shack.

Yeah I know.

umm..... i build these professionally and I highly recommend using 30AWG wire, else you might get interference and have a fraggin xbox. Seriously, thats all I use on the 1.6 LPC Rebuild, as recommended on many sites and forums, including the ones at xbox-scene.com and xecuter. I've done about 200-300 V1.6's all w/o any probs. Good luck and welcome to the modding scene.

I luv all the features on the X3...drool.....so much fun

my xbox just gave me a service error 13 screen today, out of the blue.
I can't even boot a bios or my Avalaunch disc, i just get the service error screen when I stick the disc in. Sucks.

just curious, i got an xecuter 2.3 (zero problems) back in february....what are the advantages of the x3?

I am wondering the same. What can it do that the 2.3 can't?

Same question for me but I have the chameleon chip.

umm you are pretty dumb to assume that the chip will come with the wire to rebuild your LPC points. it comes with the harness you solder to those points, as its supposed to. when you buy it, they aren't going to specially packaeg your x3 chip just because you have a v1.6.

imo, anyone who wants a modded xbox should get a refurbed one that is v1.1 - 1.5. you void the warranty as soon as you open it anyways, so the warranty of the brand new one is gone as soon as you open it. also, you don't have to rebuild the LPC on the older versions, so its alot easier to install. i do those in like 20 mins tops.

I am glad I have a 1.1. The install was a no brainer (just the D0 panic then wiping off sweat when done). The 1.6 looks too insane for my meager skillz.

That's not very nice.

Yes, because no product ever comes with extra cables, adapters, or converters to support different configurations.
