I agree sounds like a sensor issue...a couple tips on hard drive heat is try not to sandwich your drives together space them apart so you have air space around them also try mounting them lower in the case hot air rises
Hmm, are your HDD's actually overheating and causing crashes? Or are they just being reported as running warm? <- That would be a sensor issue.
If they actually don't feel that hot to the touch, then the "fix" for it is to stop monitoring the temperatures for them. :whiste:
Use a infrared thermometer gun, to check the surface temperature. Using your hand for temperature is not a good indicator of temperature for electronics. It is good for too hot or too cold. When using a infrared thermometer gun, add about 10 to 15 degrees F to get an estimate of the internal temperature.
The temperature that Everest and others are getting for hard drive is from S.M.A.R.T., so the quality depends on the electronics of the hard drive. S.M.A.R.T. is just a dumb feature because there is no certain way for it to be reliable because it shares with the electronics that controls the hard drive. I recommend depend on your senses instead S.M.A.R.T.
60c is 140f you would not be able to put your fingers on there for more then a split second. If he says its just warm on the outside that means they are a little bit above 98f which is 36c. Which is what hard rives operating normally feel like(35-43c), Warm and you can keep your hand on there for ever.
That may be true, but this is what the programs are saying.
