I was reading the superclocked Gigabyte gtx 260 article a few weeks back and wondered if a normal gtx 260 could reach it's overclock and match or beat a gtx 275/4890.
Anand article...

So I scoped the for sale/trade forums for a used gtx260. Finally I nabbed a XFX one for 125$ shipped.
The stock Gtx 275 is clocked @ 633,1403,1134, so I went for more.
So I overclocked it to 676,1403,1134 and played a few hours of Need for Speed shift and Crysis on high settings, and it ran smooth as butter.
DId a couple of 3d mark 06 runs ,ran great and scored 16,243 with sm2/sm3 scores of 7522/8084.
I monitored my temps and they never went over 61c! and she runs 39c @ idle!
Now my question is, I noticed the gtx 275 has more texture address filters, 80/80 vs 72/72 for the gtx 260. Will my extra core clock (676 vs 633) make up for that?
So do I have have effectively a gtx 275 for $125? :hmm:
Anyone wanna buy my very overclockable 9800gtx+ 1gb?
Thanks for your input.
