My gross story of the day - blood all over my face.

I finally made it to the doctor over this thread. I was explaining to the doctors assistant that my cyst didn't have an external opening, so nothing ever came out of it - then I squeezed it in the exam room, and a stream of blood erupted from my arm, covering my face and shirt in dark, coagulated blood.

His assistant burst out laughing at the expression I made when it happened - a face of revolting disgust and laughter.

Just thought I'd share that little story with the AT collective, in case you thought your day was going bad

That's nothing... go to a cardiologist some time for a bubble test, and request two nurses that have never done it before. A bubble test is where they stick a needle in your arm connected to a short tube. At the end of the tube, they have two large syringes, one of which is filled with a saline solution. What you do is "swish" the solution back and forth between the two syringes until it forms lots of very tiny bubbles, then you turn the valve and inject the bubbles into your blood stream. At the same time, another nurse watches the bubbles go through your heart on a sonogram machine.

Yeah, they kept swishing that solution around, and the needle was "swishing" back and forth in my arm. I was bleeding all over the place. It was ridiculous.

i thought bubbles in your blood killed you... thus why they always tap syringes to remove pockets of air.

What exactly is a ghetto in Vermont? Is that where the houses top out at $300k and you have to drive more than a half hour to get to a ski lodge? The po' folk have incomes that only barely creep into the six figure range?
